COMMUNICATION

1. best internet application

The interactive Internet application that through content and form effects an optimal, original, careful, and imaginative communication between transmitter and receiver. Visual and auditory tools make visiting the website an informative/entertaining experience.

Products: websites, distribution channels through the Internet.

Criteria: concept, interface, architecture, structure, visual imagery, added value, user-friendliness, audio application.

 

2. best interaction design

The focal point is the interaction between man and information medium. The point of departure is the interrelation between the functional and the visual design, which is generally translated into a user-friendly product. Interaction Design also encompasses the design of computer games with an informative or entertainment value. 

Products: games, graphic user interface of control panels on appliances, websites, electronic publications, media presentations (e.g. in museums), educational software. 

Criteria: concept, interactive perception, visual quality, specific commitment, technical execution,  complexity, usability, learnability, input/output quality, integration within the entire product design, information transfer, visual quality. 

 

3. best motion design

The narrative and/or information transfer in moving images in which scenography, motion, sound, and construction are congruous. The animator is free to use various media and techniques. 

Products: animations for advertising, websites, infographics, educational museum productions, web and television animations, clips, and leaders.
Criteria: concept, originality, added value, story line, expressiveness, technical development, information transfer, material application.

 

4. best corporate identity

The corporate identity in which the uniqueness and the character of a company or organisation is expressed in graphic design, typeface, logo, colour application, and all other visual forms of expression that concern the representation of the organisation towards internal and external business relations. 

Products: logo, font design, correspondence series, business information such as brochures, websites, digital formats, environments.

Criteria: concept, innovation, unity, brand strategy, visual language, relation 2D-3D, added value, execution and information transfer, material application.

 

5. best packaging

Packaging is a means to achieve standard marketable quantities and to protect a product against damage; it is at the same time an information carrier and a brand communicator.

As a specialisation, packaging design is positioned between product design and graphic design.

Products: packaging of consumer products, foodstuffs, industrial packaging, boxes, business-to-business packaging, etc.

Criteria: concept, innovation, brand strategy, user-friendliness, ergonomics, environmental value, added value, relation 2D-3D, information transfer, execution, material application.

 

6. best integrated brand communication

The concept and broad-scoped realisation of the communication of a brand (product or organisation/company). Besides the visual identity, the corporate identity also comprises the organisation's communications and behaviour.

Products: total package of corporate tools including marketing communication tools, packaging, and campaigns. 

Criteria: concept and strategy, originality, consistency, technical and editorial execution, applicability, complexity, material application.

 

7. best graphic design

All text applications and/or images conveying a message on a flat surface.

Printed communications are the most traditional end product, but currently designers are working on a wide range of products that do not necessarily have to be two-dimensional.

Products: flyers, posters, catalogues, brochures, books, invitations, CD/DVD sleeves, cards, annual reports, calendars, newspapers, newsletters, magazines, letter fonts, signposts, forms, manuals, symbols, bank notes, bank and phone cards, trading stamp books, certificates, coins, stamps.

Criteria: concept, innovation, originality, applicability, technical and editorial execution, material application.

 

8. best illustration

Illustration is a visual representation of a message, mission, or narrative, which (in principle) is communicated by other parties. Illustrators are free to use various media and techniques.

Products: (children's) book illustrations, illustrations for advertising productions, magazines, flyers, websites, infographics, cartographic representations, technical and medical illustrations, illustrations on packaging, image in environments.  

Criteria: concept, innovation, originality, persuasiveness, information transfer, visual imagery, relation content/message, signature, technical execution, context.
