Kymka Shoes and Bags

The project

The interior of Kymyka Shoes and Bags on Minckelersstraat in Maastricht is not merely functional; it is also incredibly beautiful. The interior’s most striking feature consists of two areas with stainless steel rods of varying lengths that protrude from the floor. Some of these rods are topped with shoes. Lining the shop walls is a continuous wooden console that accommodates a range of functions. Three parallel bars have been attached to the wall above the console for the display of shoes and bags; they continue along the windows.

Committee

Kymyka Shoes and Bags is a shop, but it looks like a shoe exhibition. Shoes are mounted everywhere on stainless steel bars stuck in the floor. The display is definitely an eye catcher, but it also pays homage to one of the initiators, who died shortly before the opening. The wooden console along the wall has several functional purposes.
