Studio ACTE explores new forms of resilient architecture through low-tech, geo-sourced design and radical material reuse. Led by Estelle Barriol and Fanny Bordes, the Rotterdam-based studio prioritises hands-on research, craftsmanship, and collective building processes. 

They bridge vernacular wisdom, local craft, and an iterative design-and-build process—spanning model-making, material testing, and 1:1 self-built structures. Operating across France, Belgium, Japan and the Netherlands, the studio places the dialogue between the building site, materials, and assemblies at the very heart of architectural inquiry. Grounded in direct physical action and collective labour, Studio ACTE reveals building as a generous, site-specific act capable of redefining sustainable construction.
