Moodwall

1

The project

The Moodwall is a 24-m-long interactive wall underneath a viaduct in Amsterdam neighbourhood Bijlmer, which has 2500 LEDs in different colours that respond to the movements of passers-by. The Moodwall does not just brighten up the subway, but also has a social function. Passers-by feel less unsafe and it will even lighten the mood of the bored youths who occasionally get up to no good.

Committee

The Moodwall puts pedestrians in a pedestrian underpass in the Bijlmer at ease. The 24-meter long interactive wall consists of 2500 LEDs that respond to the movements of passers-by by producing various colour patterns. These patterns are also visible from an oblique angle, even from outside the tunnel. The vertical ribs make the wall graffiti-resistant.
