Maria Blaisse

Together van Camper: C-shoe

1

The project

After some 20 years of material and form experiments in rubber, Maria Blaisse found an interested producer for the innovative C-Shoe, the Spanish shoe manufacturer Camper. A tube is spiral shaped and naturally forms a circle, a basic form that also determined Blaisse’s earlier oeuvre. Her intuitive manner of working comes about through actions that can almost be called ‘conjuring’, underscoring the fact that she does not so much create form as encounter a form in its natural condition. She has the capacity to envision the precisely right design and possible application when experimenting with forms.

Committee

Maria Blaisse took the time for her design. For almost twenty years, she experimented with material and form in rubber. Spanish shoe company Camper picked up the innovative shoe/boot shape: the C shoe. The soft leather of the special boot shaft forms lovely folds round the wearer’s calves.
