Wood Ring

The project

Wood Ring is an a ten-metre-long wooden beam. The bench is hold in place by a metal ring. By the shape sitting on the ring with a few or with many people produces a feeling of intimacy.

Take a ten-metre-long wooden beam, cut it into trapezium-shaped pieces, fit these back together and hold them in place by a metal ring. Lo and behold, the grain of this delicate bench has simply remained in place.

This design is actually the opposite of technology. It is a kind of platform, because it invites people to think about what more can be done with wood. Not many products or objects are able to form their own space, but this object is.
