Sies Marjan

2017 Autumn-Winter Collection

The project

Garments produced in fluttering fabrics are key to this third (women’s) collection by Sies Marjan, a young label with Creative Director Sander Lak at its helm. Each piece creates the impression of having been modelled straight onto the wearer’s body – the result of Lak’s large-scale experimentation with the tying and wrapping of garments. Known for his trademark use of colour, this is clearly evident in the current collection too.

Committee

The committee is very impressed by this designer, who – after gaining years of experience with renowned fashion houses – came out of the blue to take over a brand (with a haute couture studio) and put his own unique stamp on it. He presents a clear vision in this collection, key to which are asymmetrical lines, dancing fabrics and varied colour use. The collection is refreshingly uninfluenced by trends, muses and themes, with Lak deliberately opting for an abstract and unique approach instead. It is this that has made the Sies Marjan label the international success it is today.
