Many children want to contribute to a clean and healthy planet but cannot yet vote themselves. Mijn Stem is Groen (My Voice is Green) is the first online climate march for children. Two weeks before the 2021 national elections, all children in the Netherlands were able to make their voice for a green future heard on mijnstemisgroen.nl. Literally: children were able to use a web-based app to record their voice which was then transformed into a unique avatar they could edit themselves. The personalised avatars then joined the virtual climate march where the voices of all the children could be heard in a protest song, made by producer Simon Akkermans and musicians Ruben Hein and Sabrina Starke. 

Mijn Stem is Groen is a friendly and unique initiative full of expression. In a short space of time and with a limited budget, a multidisciplinary collective of designers and musicians created something that clearly comes straight from the heart. It is conceptually strong in its simplicity and makes clever use of technology, without losing sight of functionality and target group. A democratic project that brings children in touch with political issues in a fun way and gives them a voice they would otherwise not have had.
