Industriepark Kleefse Waard

The project

Both designers and industry are accommodated in the Industrial Park Kleefse Waard (IPKW). Designers are actively linked to the manufacturing industry here. IPKW has approached Klaas Kuiken and Luuk Wiehink – designers and tenants – about developing a series of furniture for the interior of IPKW’s new restaurant. Only waste materials were used for the creation of the so-called IPKW Collection that resulted from this.

Where most industrial estates are a random assortment of individual companies, active collaboration occurs between the manufacturing and creative industries in the IPKW.
IPKW acts as the linking pin and, as a client, displays a long-term vision for the future of the park. An important role here is that of sustainability and design, which is of added value for all the parties involved. The project demonstrates that ‘waste’ does not exist; in addition, the committee warmly appreciates the fact that young designers were offered a platform.
