Black Magic Marker

Website The Second World War

The project

The designers at Black Magic Marker tried to make the rich source material of the Second World War and the Liberation well-organised through the website website provides verified sources. Using 12 themes, explanations are provided about what happened between 1940 and 1945. The website should become the central place for students to visit if they have a project about the Second World War. The website also provides information for teachers.

The designers at Black Magic Marker have managed to make the rich sources from the Second World War available in such a way that it is also interesting for a young audience. The form of a show-box has been chosen as the basis for the interaction in this online exhibition about the Liberation. The layered approach will encourage young people to explore the website. The sober design, dominated by shades of grey, fits in well with the atmosphere of the war years.

— Using interactive maps, the German occupation and the Liberation by the Allies can be followed in detail.
